Graduations are the highlight of the Imperial year, where we can all come together to celebrate the achievements of our graduating students.
Traditionally, two graduation days are held each year. Graduation Day occurs in the summer term, while Commemoration Day is held in the autumn term.
Currently, the ceremonies on Commemoration Day and Graduation Day take place at the Royal Albert Hall, where they have been celebrated for more than 60 years.
Commem & Graduation Day
Commemoration Day
Commemoration day takes its name from a visit made by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1945 to mark the centenary of the Royal College of Science, the oldest forerunner to Imperial.
Today, more than 3,000 students attend commemoration day, including undergraduates and PhD graduands.
Commemoration Day 2024 will be held on 16 October, and all eligible graduands will be invited in due course.
Please do not make non-refundable travel arrangements until you have successfully registered for the event.
Graduation Day
Graduation day is held in early summer each year. Every year, over 4,000 graduands graduate from Imperial on this day, with 2024 our largest cohort yet!
Graduation Day 2024 took place on Wednesday 8 May.
In 2025 our summer graduation days are scheduled for 2 and 3 June*, and all eligible graduands will be invited in due course.
Please do not make non-refundable travel arrangements until you have successfully registered for the event.
